My Stepfather Kept Me in a Wheelchair for My Inheritance Until a Stranger Saved Me
Previously: Chloe spent five years bound to a wheelchair, believing she was permanently paralyzed. But on her 25th birthday, a mysterious stranger reveals a dark family secret that changes everything.
The Dark Revelation
The shock in the ballroom was instantly shattered by Richard’s furious roar. "Get your hands off her!" he screamed, lunging forward. Three burly security guards tackled the young stranger, slamming him to the marble floor. Chloe cried out, trying to take a step forward, but her legs were still weak and unstable. Richard grabbed her arm with a punishingly tight grip, his face pale and sweating.
"Chloe, sit back down! This man is a dangerous intruder!" Richard hissed, trying to force her back into the wheelchair. But Chloe refused to budge. The feeling in her legs was real, and it was growing stronger by the second.
Pinned to the floor, the young man spit blood from his cut cheek and yelled,
"Chloe, don't trust him! He’s been poisoning you! The wheelchair... it was all him!"
A collective gasp rippled through the high-society crowd. Richard's eyes flared with panic. "He's insane! Drag him out of here!" he ordered the guards.
But the stranger screamed louder as they dragged him toward the exit.
"My name is Isaac! My mother was Dr. Sarah Sterling, your mother's private physician! She found out Richard was slipping neurotoxins into your daily medication to keep you paralyzed and dependent! He ran her off the road to silence her, but she gave me the antidote before she died!"
Chloe felt the world spin. She looked down at Isaac's hand on her lap, realizing he had covertly applied a rapid-acting transdermal antidote patch when he touched her. She looked at her stepfather, whose frantic attempts to laugh off the accusation only betrayed his absolute terror. The puzzle pieces of the last five years suddenly fell into place. Her daily "vitamin" drinks, her constant brain fog, and Richard's desperate rush to sign the conservatorship papers tonight.
"Let him go," Chloe commanded, her voice ringing with a strength she hadn't possessed in years. "Let him go right now."
