Previously: When Richard checked his security camera feed from his car, he expected to see his daughter playing safely. Instead, he witnessed a nightmare that shattered his family forever.

The Confrontation

The massive front door of the mansion slammed open with a force that rattled the glass panes. Eleanor jumped, nearly dropping her bowl of grapes as Richard stormed into the hallway, his face a mask of pure fury. Lily immediately dropped the mop and ran to him, burying her face in his trousers as she sobbed hysterically. Richard scooped his daughter up into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest, whispering soothing words into her hair.

Eleanor quickly recovered her composure, her eyes darting to the mop on the floor before she forced a bright, innocent smile.

"Richard! What a surprise! Why are you home so early, darling? I was just teaching Lily some basic housekeeping. She spilled her juice, you see, and—"

Before she could finish her lie, Richard held up his phone. The screen was still playing the live recording of her cruel behavior. Eleanor’s face drained of color as she watched herself telling a crying six-year-old to "cry quieter." For a second, panic flickered in her eyes, but then, her demeanor shifted entirely. The sweet, loving wife act vanished, replaced by a cold, arrogant sneer.

"So, you played a little spy game," Eleanor said, crossing her arms. "But let’s be realistic, Richard. What are you going to do? Divorce me?"

She took a slow step forward, her eyes gleaming with malice.

"Lest you forget, the prenuptial agreement your highly paid lawyers drafted guarantees me fifty percent of your assets and five million dollars in cash if we split. Go ahead, call your lawyers. Ending this marriage will ruin you financially."

Richard stared at the woman he thought he loved, disgusted by the sheer calculation in her eyes. She had married him for his wealth, and she believed she was completely untouchable. She stood there, smug and victorious, confident that greed would force Richard to tolerate her cruelty to his daughter.
