The cold marble of the grand mansion’s foyer chilled Mia to the bone, but she kept her head down, her hands raw from scrubbing the pristine tiles. Clutching a cheap, worn-out sponge, she wiped away imaginary dirt, trying desperately to ignore the sharp, rhythmic click of high heels approaching. The scent of harsh chemical bleach filled the air, mixing uncomfortably with the expensive French perfume of the woman standing over her.

Above her stood Vivian, draped in designer silk and holding a half-empty champagne glass. She looked down at Mia with sheer contempt, a cruel, satisfied smirk playing on her lips.

"Make sure you get into the corners,"

Vivian sneered, taking a slow, deliberate sip of her drink. "Though I suppose this is the only thing you're actually suited for. You should be grateful I let you work here at all."

Just then, the heavy oak double doors swung open, letting in a gust of cool evening air. Harold, a successful businessman in his late thirties wearing a tailored navy suit, stepped into the foyer. He carried a heavy leather briefcase, his face etched with exhaustion from a grueling day of corporate negotiations. He froze instantly, his eyes landing on the young woman kneeling on the wet, soapy floor.

Vivian’s demeanor shifted in a heartbeat. She offered a dismissive, sweet smile to her husband, gesturing toward Mia with her glass as if pointing out a minor nuisance.

"She's just doing what she's good at, cleaning,"

Vivian said, her voice dripping with condescension.

But Harold didn't smile back. He stared at Mia, his breath catching in his throat. As Mia slowly lifted her head, her tear-filled eyes met his. A shockwave of pure recognition passed through Harold's eyes, quickly turning into a cold, burning fury.

Without taking his eyes off his wife, Harold pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and answered it with a sharp, angry bark.

"Cancel everything, now!"

Vivian gasped in confusion, her champagne glass trembling.

"What? Harold, what are you talking about?"

she stammered, her face turning pale.

Harold looked at her with an icy glare that made her blood run cold.

"This house is no longer yours,"

he stated slowly, his voice laced with venom. Mia looked up from the floor, her heart pounding as the silence in the grand foyer became absolutely deafening.
