With Amanda pinned against the refrigerator, John immediately dialed 911, his hands shaking with a mixture of adrenaline and pure fury. Amanda, realizing she was caught, stopped struggling and let out a cold, mocking laugh that sent chills down John's spine. "You think you're so smart, John?" she hissed. "Go ahead, call the police. It's my word against yours, and your mother's mind is practically gone. Who do you think they'll believe?"

But John had a secret of his own. Weeks prior, Beatrice had complained about losing some of her favorite jewelry—sentimental pieces left by John’s late father. As the officers handcuffed Amanda, they searched her large handbag.
