She Called Security on a Quiet Guest, Unaware He Owned the Entire Estate
Previously: When Penelope saw Vincent holding the keys to a luxury Rolls Royce, she immediately called security to throw him out. But she had no idea who Vincent actually was.
The Price of Arrogance
Charles turned to his wife, his eyes wide with sheer panic.
"This is Vincent Vance,"he stammered, his voice trembling.
"He is the majority shareholder of Vance Enterprises. He bought out our firm's debt yesterday morning. He literally owns our company, Penelope. And... he bought this entire estate last week. We are only staying here because he graciously allowed us to host this charity gala."
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd of wealthy onlookers. Penelope felt the ground turn to ice beneath her feet. The man she had just accused of being a car thief was not only the owner of the luxury Rolls Royce, but he was also her husband's boss and the landlord of the very mansion they stood in.
Vincent pressed the key fob, and the headlights of the Rolls Royce flashed to life. He looked at Penelope, whose face had drained of all color.
"Class is not something you can buy with a designer blazer, Penelope,"Vincent said quietly.
"And respect should be given to everyone, regardless of what you assume they can afford."
Turning to Charles, Vincent's tone grew cold and professional.
"We will discuss the future of your employment at my office on Monday morning. As for this estate, I expect your belongings to be packed and moved out by the end of the month."
Without waiting for a response, Vincent opened the door of the Rolls Royce, stepped inside, and started the engine. The powerful car purred to life. As he drove down the long, winding driveway, the crowd parted in silence, leaving Penelope and Charles standing alone in the ruins of their social standing.
True wealth lies in humility and character, while arrogance is a debt that always demands to be paid in full.
