She Humiliated Him Over A Luxury Car, Unaware He Owned Her Entire Company
Previously: When arrogant Lydia accused Christian of stealing a Rolls Royce at a high-society party, she thought she was saving the day. She had no idea the quiet guest held the keys to her entire future.
The Confrontation Escalates
Lydia folded her arms, a smug look of triumph plastered across her face as she looked around at the murmuring crowd. She thrived on moments like this, where she could assert her perceived superiority over those she deemed beneath her. "Take him down to the security office and call the police immediately," she ordered the guards, gesturing grandly toward Christian. "He has no business being at this gala, let alone trying to drive off in a vehicle that clearly doesn't belong to him. He's a trespasser."
The security guards approached Christian, but as they got closer, the lead guard froze. He looked at Christian's face, then down at the key fob in Christian's hand, and back up again. Instead of grabbing Christian, the guard stepped back and bowed his head slightly. "Good afternoon, sir," the guard said, his voice deeply respectful.
Lydiaβs jaw dropped. "What are you doing? Are you blind? I said arrest him! Heβs a thief!" she screamed, her composure rapidly unraveling in front of her wealthy peers.
"Is there a problem here, Lydia?" a booming voice interrupted.
The crowd parted as Arthur Vance, the billionaire founder of Vance Global and the host of the entire afternoon's gala, walked down the grand marble steps of the mansion. Lydia immediately brightened, assuming her boss's boss was coming to her rescue. She rushed over to him, pointing back at Christian.
"Mr. Vance, thank goodness you're here!" Lydia gushed, trying to regain her poised demeanor. "This former employee of ours somehow snuck into your private event and was in the middle of stealing that Rolls Royce. I caught him red-handed, but your security team is refusing to do their job!"
Arthur Vance didn't look at Lydia. Instead, he walked past her and approached Christian, extending a hand. "I apologize for the delay, Christian. We had to finalize the paperwork inside."
