Previously: Evelyn mocked a seemingly ordinary delivery driver at a high-end car meet, confident he could never afford a Porsche. But his response left her completely speechless.

The Price of Arrogance

Richard whirled around, his face turning a furious shade of red. "Shut up, Evelyn!" he hissed under his breath, before turning back to Wyatt with an apologetic grimace. "Please forgive my daughter, Mr. Vance. She doesn't know who she is speaking to."

Wyatt calmly pocketed his keys, looking at the older man with a cool, detached gaze. "Actually, Richard, she knows me quite well. She thinks I just deliver packages. And she's not entirely wrong. I do."

Richard looked as if he might faint. He turned to Evelyn, his voice shaking. "Evelyn, this is Wyatt Vance. He is the founder and CEO of Vance Logistics—the global shipping empire that handles our entire manufacturing distribution. He is also the primary investor we have been begging to meet with for six months to save our family company from bankruptcy!"

Wyatt smiled faintly. "I like to personally conduct ground deliveries once a month, Richard. It keeps me grounded. It reminds me of where I started, and it helps me see how our clients and employees are treated. Today, I learned a very valuable lesson about how your family treats people they deem 'beneath' them."

Evelyn’s world crumbled around her. The red leather jacket that had made her feel so powerful now felt like a heavy weight dragging her down. The onlookers whispered, their mocking stares now directed entirely at her. She realized with sickening clarity that her shallow pride had just destroyed her family's last hope.

Richard turned to his daughter, desperate. "Evelyn, apologize to Mr. Vance. Now!"

Evelyn looked at Wyatt, tears welling in her eyes, ready to drop to her knees just as she had boasted. But Wyatt held up a hand, stopping her.

"Don't bother," Wyatt said quietly. "True class isn't something you can buy, and respect isn't something you only show to the wealthy. Richard, our deal is off. I don't do business with people who raise their children to be bullies."

With that, Wyatt climbed into his Porsche, the engine roaring as he drove off into the sunset, leaving Evelyn to face the ruin of her own making. Ultimately, she learned that the way you treat those who can do nothing for you is the ultimate reflection of who you truly are.
