Previously: Standing alone in the freezing cold, nineteen-year-old Chloe feared the approaching motorcycle club. But their rugged leader carried a secret that would change her life forever.

The Secret in the Leather Jacket

Chloe climbed onto the back of Marcus's bike, holding on tightly as the group roared away from the library. The cold wind whipped against her face, but for the first time in months, the icy knot of fear in her stomach began to melt. They rode through the snow-dusted streets of the city, eventually pulling up to a quiet, dimly lit diner on the outskirts of town.

Inside, over two steaming mugs of black coffee, Marcus finally broke the silence. He unzipped his distressed leather jacket and pulled a worn leather wallet from his pocket. From it, he slipped out a faded photograph and slid it across the table. Chloe gasped. It was a picture of her late father, Thomas, smiling next to a much younger Marcus, both of them wearing matching silver rings with a wolf's head emblem.

"Your dad was the president of our club, Chloe," Marcus explained, his voice low and serious. "Before he passed away five years ago, he knew your stepfather, Richard, was a dangerous man. Thomas made me promise that if Richard ever tried to hurt you or take what was rightfully yours, I would step in."

Chloe’s eyes filled with tears. Ever since her mother had passed away last month, her stepfather Richard had been relentlessly pursuing her, demanding she sign over her mother’s life insurance policy and her father's estate. Richard had threatened to make her life a living hell if she didn't comply, which was why she had been hiding out at the library.

"I didn't know who to trust,"

Chloe whispered, wiping a tear from her cheek. "Richard said if I didn't sign the papers by tonight, he would find me." Marcus reached across the table, his calloused hand gently covering hers. His expression hardened into one of absolute determination.

"He won't touch you, Chloe. You're family to us. And tonight, we're going to pay Richard a little visit."
