The air inside the luxury jewelry boutique, "Aurum & Co.," was warm, scented with expensive perfume and lit by glowing, amber chandeliers. Clara adjusted her black lace dress, her eyes scanning the sparkling glass display cases. Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a small figure. A young boy, no older than seven, with short brown curls and worn sneakers, was leaning heavily against a display case containing priceless diamond jewelry.

"This piece was commissioned the night a newborn vanished in the hospital fire,"

Arthur's voice trembled, his eyes shining with sudden, painful tears as he stood beside a sobbing Clara.

"Clara, look at him. The eyes... they are hers."

Clara stared at Leo, her heart pounding against her ribs. The boy’s green eyes were identical to the ones she saw in the mirror every morning, carrying a secret that had been buried in ashes for nearly thirty years.
