Clara Vance clutched her leather handbag tightly against her light blue pantsuit, her heart hammering against her ribs. Suddenly, their path was blocked. Officer Davis, a burly policeman with a hostile glare, stepped directly into their path. Before Mark could even explain that they had an appointment, Davis drew his heavy black baton. The hostility in the officer's eyes was immediate and terrifying.

"No! Stop!"

Clara screamed as Davis swung the baton with aggressive force. Mark reacted instantly, throwing his arm around Clara to shield her from the blow. The camera of a nearby tourist shook as the chaotic scene unfolded. The officer showed no intention of listening to reason, his face twisted in rage.

Davis yelled, shoving the couple backward with the flat of his baton. The sheer force of the push sent Clara stumbling.
