Previously: When Clara and Mark tried to deliver a critical file to the Capitol, a corrupt police officer stopped them with force. But the betrayal ran far deeper than they imagined.

The Triumph of Truth

Before Davis could grab Clara’s arm, Officer Miller stepped forward, placing a firm hand on his partner’s shoulder. "Stand down, Davis," Miller said, his voice calm but absolute. Davis glared at him, his face flushing red. "Stay out of this, Miller. These two are a security threat."

Miller didn't flinch. Instead, he tapped the small glowing green light on his chest. "My body camera has been recording this entire interaction, Davis. I saw you assault an unarmed civilian. I also heard you admit to taking orders from a political office. That's a federal crime."

At that moment, the screech of tires echoed across the plaza. A sleek black SUV pulled up, and several federal marshals piled out, accompanied by Arthur, the chief of staff. Clara had sent Arthur an emergency email containing a copy of the files just minutes before stepping onto the plaza, fearing exactly this kind of ambush.

The federal marshals quickly surrounded Davis, disarming him and placing him in handcuffs. It was revealed that Miller had already been cooperating with an ongoing internal investigation into Davis's corrupt ties to Senator Sterling. The trap had backfired spectacularly.

With Davis subdued, Clara reached into her bag and handed the flash drive to the lead marshal. She looked up at the towering dome of the Capitol, feeling a profound sense of relief wash over her. Her uncle's reign of corruption was finally over. Though her family was shattered by the betrayal, Clara knew she had done the right thing.

True justice cannot be silenced by fear, and sometimes, the most unexpected allies are the ones who stand up to shine a light into the darkest corners of power.
