Previously: When Chloe was pushed to the floor and humiliated by the bride and groom, the guests laughed. But they didn't know Chloe held a secret that would destroy the marriage before the night ended.

The Confrontation in the Shadows

As the crowd’s attention shifted back to the bar, Chloe pushed herself up from the cold hardwood floor. Her champagne gown was dusty, and her wrists ached from where Andrew had gripped her to pull her into the center of the room. Shaking, she slipped away from the noise of the reception and locked herself in the quiet sanctuary of the estate’s library.

She didn't have to wait long. The heavy oak doors swung open, and Megan and Andrew slipped inside, their faces instantly losing their joyful wedding expressions. Andrew locked the door behind them, his midnight blue tuxedo looking suddenly menacing in the dim light.

"You think you’re so clever, don’t you?"
Megan hissed, her white lace dress rustling as she stepped closer.
"You just had to go snooping through Andrew’s office. You couldn't just let me have my perfect day."

Chloe stood her ground, though her heart hammered against her ribs. "You’re stealing from Dad, Megan," Chloe said, her voice trembling but clear. "Andrew has been funneling millions from our family's trust fund into offshore accounts. And you knew about it. You helped him bypass the security protocols!"

Andrew sneered, stepping in front of his new wedding bride.

"And who is going to believe you, Chloe? You’re the quiet, bitter sister. Everyone out there just saw you flat on the floor, making a scene. If you say a word, we’ll tell your father you’ve been struggling with your mental health again. He’ll believe us."

The sheer coldness of her sister’s betrayal stung worse than the physical fall. Megan wasn't a victim of Andrew's manipulation; she was his partner in crime. They had staged the public humiliation on the dance floor to establish a narrative that Chloe was unstable. But Chloe looked at them, a cold calm washing over her. They thought they had won, but they had made one critical mistake.
