Arthur groaned, wiping a smear of blood from his lip as he struggled to stand. Despite his physical defeat, a smug, arrogant grin spread across his face. He adjusted his crumpled suit jacket, glaring at the soldier with pure hatred.

"Do you have any idea who I am, soldier?"

Arthur spat, pulling out his phone.

"I practically own this hospital. You just committed assault, and I will ensure you spend the rest of your life in a military prison."

Within moments, three hospital security guards rushed into the hallway. But instead of arresting the attacker, the lead guard, a stern man named Chief Peterson, drew his baton and pointed it directly at Marcus.

"Step away from Mr. Vance, soldier,"

Peterson commanded.

"You're under arrest for assaulting a VIP donor."

Clara scrambled to her feet, her voice trembling but resolute.

"No! He was trying to kill me! He wanted the data on the illegal drug trials!"

Marcus immediately realized the horrifying truth: the hospital's security apparatus was corrupt, bought and paid for by Arthur's pharmaceutical empire. Rex growled, his ears pinned back as he sensed the mounting threat. The guards closed in, their hands moving toward their holstered weapons.

"Stand down, guards,"

Marcus warned, his military training taking over. He stood tall, a human shield between the corrupt security team and the terrified nurse.

"You are protecting a criminal. This woman has proof of medical malpractice that cost lives."

Arthur laughed coldly. It was a terrifying realization that the corruption ran this deep, leaving Marcus and Clara completely cornered inside the very building meant for healing.
