My Stepmother Forced Me to Clean on Hands and Knees, but My Father’s Partner Had Other Plans
Previously: When Elizabeth forced her stepdaughter Alice to scrub the marble floors during a high-society event, she didn't expect the estate's true owner to walk through the door.
The Unraveling of a Lie
The silence in the grand vestibule was deafening as Elizabeth tried to regain her composure. She forced a hollow laugh, looking around at the gathered elite of the city, hoping for support. But the guests remained silent, sensing the shift in power. "William, you're making a scene," Elizabeth hissed, stepping closer to him. "This is my house. Arthur left it to me in his will. You have no legal authority to stand in my home and threaten me."
William didn't blink. He calmly unclasped his leather briefcase and pulled out a stack of notarized documents, holding them up for everyone to see.
"Your husband didn't own this estate, Elizabeth," William declared, his voice echoing off the classic pillars. "Arthur and I purchased this property under our corporate entity. The deed explicitly states that upon his passing, his share of the estate does not transfer to his spouse. It transfers directly to a trust managed by me, solely for the benefit of his daughter, Alice."
Elizabeth's face drained of color. She shook her head frantically. "No, that's not true! I have the probate papers! The lawyers signed off on it!" she screamed, her polished facade completely cracking. She looked like a cornered beast, her chest heaving as she realized her grip on the Sterling fortune was slipping away.
"The lawyers you manipulated and bribed are currently being questioned by the district attorney," William replied coldly. He stepped forward, gently reaching down to take Alice's hand and pull her up from the wet floor.
"I have spent the last six months gathering evidence of your financial fraud, Elizabeth. I was planning to present this next week, but seeing how you treat Arthur's daughter in her own home, I decided to accelerate the timeline. You have exactly one hour to pack your personal belongings and leave."
