Previously: When Leo saw a notorious biker gang rise from their diner booths, he thought his time was up. But he didn't realize his sister Lily was leading them—for his own protection.

An Unexpected Shield

Leo braced himself for the impact, closing his eyes and waiting for the heavy hand of a biker to drag him out of the booth. But the heavy footsteps moved past him. When he opened his eyes, he saw Marcus and his crew forming a human wall right in front of the diner's double glass doors, their backs turned to Leo. They weren't looking at him—they were watching the dark parking lot outside.

Suddenly, a shadow fell over Leo's table. He looked up to find Lily standing there, her hood pulled back to reveal her pale, exhausted face. Her eyes were filled with a mixture of anger and deep relief.

"Lily? What is this?"

Leo stammered, his voice cracking.

"Did you bring them to beat me up? I swear, I’ll pay the money back, I just need more time!"

Lily let out a bitter, breathy laugh and slid into the booth opposite him, grabbing his cold hands in hers.

"You absolute idiot,"

she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion.

"Do you really think so poorly of me? I’m your sister. I didn't bring Marcus to hurt you. I brought him to save you."

Before Leo could process her words, headlights swept across the diner's front windows. A sleek, black SUV pulled up to the curb. Two men in sharp, dark suits stepped out. Leo’s blood ran cold. He recognized them instantly—they were the enforcers sent by the ruthless loan shark he had foolishly borrowed money from to save his failing business.

"They tracked your phone, Leo,"

Lily explained quickly, her grip tightening on his hands.

"I intercepted their communications through a friend. I knew I couldn't stop them alone. So, I called Uncle Marcus and his club. We are ending this tonight."
