Previously: Standing frozen in the snow, nineteen-year-old Chloe dreaded the arrival of the local motorcycle club. But when the leader stopped his bike, a life-changing secret about her late mother began to unravel.

Richard’s face turned pale, then flushed with rage. "You're bluffing! You're nothing but a street thug. I have the legal rights to her inheritance, and my lawyers will tie her up in court until she’s penniless!" he spat, gesturing to the man beside him.

A New Brotherhood

But Marcus didn't flinch. Instead, one of the riders behind him—a tall, clean-cut man in a leather vest named Jax—stepped forward. Jax unzipped his jacket to reveal a pristine suit collar underneath, pulling a notarized legal folder from his saddlebag. "Actually, Richard, I’m the club's legal counsel, and a senior partner at Miller & Associates," Jax said with a calm, dangerous smile. "We’ve already filed an injunction. The trust your late ex-wife created was ironclad. The moment Chloe turned eighteen, your executorship expired. Any further harassment will result in immediate criminal charges."

Richard stared at the documents, his mouth opening and closing like a fish. Realizing he was utterly outmatched and outnumbered by a brotherhood that was as legally sharp as they were physically imposing, he scrambled back into his sedan. The luxury car sped away, tires smoking on the icy asphalt, leaving behind a cloud of exhaust and a stunned silence.

Chloe stood frozen, tears spilling over her cold cheeks. For the first time in her life, she felt safe. Marcus walked over to her, his tough exterior melting into pure gentleness. He reached out, his gloved hand softly wiping a tear from her face. "I promised your mother I would protect you when the time came," he whispered. "I'm sorry it took so long to find you."

"You're here now," Chloe sobbed, throwing her arms around her father's neck.

As the motorcycle club cheered, Marcus handed her a spare helmet painted with a small orange stripe to match her beanie. Riding away from the cold campus, Chloe knew she had lost a mother, but she had gained a father and an entire family who would ride through any storm to keep her safe. Sometimes, the family we need doesn't arrive in suits and ties, but on two wheels and with absolute loyalty.
