The Coma Was a Trap: He Caught His Fiancée Stealing From His Own Daughter
Previously: Thinking Julian was helpless, Chloe-Mae shoved Ruby aside and grabbed the diamond tiara. But when Julian snapped his eyes open and caught her wrist, the real trap—and the truth about his will—began to unfold.
The Will That Changed Everything
Three weeks later, Julian stood in the same dressing room, now cleaned and reorganized, the tiara back in the vault. Ruby was at school, and he was alone with his lawyer, Harold Finch.
"You're sure about this?" Harold asked, adjusting his glasses. "You know once it's filed, there's no going back."

Julian nodded, signing the final page. "I've never been more sure."
The document was a revised will, drawn up the night before the "coma" began. It had been sitting in Harold's office, sealed and waiting for this moment.
"And the condition?" Harold asked.
"She has to be out of our lives," Julian said. "Completely. No contact, no claims, no visitation. If she contests, she gets nothing. If she stays away, Ruby gets the trust fund, and Chloe-Mae gets a small settlement—enough to start over, but not enough to hurt anyone again."
Harold nodded slowly. "And the tiara?"
"It stays in the family," Julian said. "It was my mother's, and it belongs to Ruby now."
What Julian didn't know was that Chloe-Mae had already posted bail. And she was listening—hidden in the hallway, having slipped into the estate through the service entrance she'd memorized months ago.
She heard every word.
The next day, Chloe-Mae showed up at Ruby's school, waiting by the gate with a sickly sweet smile. "Ruby, sweetheart! I brought you a present!"
Ruby stopped, remembering the way Chloe-Mae had shoved her, the way she'd raised her hand. "I'm not supposed to talk to you," she said, backing away.
"Oh, don't be silly," Chloe-Mae said, stepping closer. "I'm going to be your mommy soon. We're going to be a family."
"You're not my mommy," Ruby said, her voice shaking. "My mommy is in heaven."
Chloe-Mae's smile tightened. "Well, your daddy is going to marry me, so you better get used to it."
"No, he's not," Ruby said, pulling out the phone Julian had given her for emergencies. "Daddy says you're a liar and a thief."
Chloe-Mae's face twisted. She grabbed Ruby's arm, her nails digging into the child's skin. "You little—"
But before she could finish, a security guard appeared, and Julian's voice boomed from the speakerphone on Ruby's phone. "Chloe-Mae, remove your hand from my daughter, or I will have you arrested for kidnapping."
Chloe-Mae froze. The guard stepped between her and Ruby, and Ruby ran to the school office, where Julian was already waiting, his face pale with rage.
"You're done," Julian said, hanging up the phone. "You violated the restraining order. Now you're going back to jail."
Chloe-Mae laughed, a hollow sound. "You think you can just cut me out? I know about the will, Julian. I know you're leaving everything to Ruby. But I'm your fiancée, and I'll fight it. I'll drag this through every court in the state."
"You'll fight it with what money?" Julian asked, stepping closer. "You used your credit cards to post bail, but I froze your accounts this morning. You have nothing, Chloe-Mae. And soon, you'll have a record."
She lunged at him, but the guard caught her, and the police arrived minutes later, called by the school principal.
As they handcuffed her again, Julian knelt beside Ruby. "I'm sorry, baby. I thought she was gone for good."
Ruby hugged him, burying her face in his chest. "It's okay, Daddy. I'm not scared. You always protect me."
But Julian's jaw was set. This wasn't over. He had one more move to play, and it was going to hurt Chloe-Mae more than any jail cell.
