Chief Henderson looked from the flash drive to David’s pale, sweating face. The silence on the wet tarmac was deafening. "Give me the drive, Megan," the Chief commanded, stepping forward. Megan handed it over, keeping her eyes fixed on David, who looked as if he might bolt. "This is a fabrication! She’s desperate because she got fired!" David protested, his voice high and defensive.

But Chief Henderson had already seen enough. He handed the drive to Officer Taylor. "Take this to my office and plug it into the main monitor immediately," he ordered. Within minutes, Taylor returned, his face grim. He nodded to the Chief. "It's all there, sir. The footage clearly shows Officer David entering the K9 facility at midnight, feeding the poison to Zeus, and then placing the medical vials in Megan's locker. There is no doubt."

A collective murmur ran through the recruits. David took a step back, but the four German Shepherds let out a low, menacing growl, blocking his path of escape. They knew exactly who the predator was. Chief Henderson stepped up to David, his expression filled with disgust. "Officer David, hand over your badge and weapon. You are under arrest for animal cruelty, falsifying police records, and framing a fellow officer." Taylor stepped forward, cuffing David as the disgraced officer kept his head down in shame.

Chief Henderson turned to Megan, a look of profound regret on his face. "Megan, the academy owes you a massive apology. We should have trusted your record over his lies. I want you back where you belong. Will you accept the position of K9 Commander?" Megan looked down at Rex, who looked up at her with bright, loyal eyes, his tail wagging gently. She smiled, feeling the weight lift from her shoulders.

"Only if my pack comes with me," she replied.
