My Uncle Sent Me Away With a Strange Biker, But His True Identity Changed Everything
Previously: Standing in the freezing snow, 18-year-old Emily is handed over to a mysterious biker by her uncle. But when the stranger removes his glasses, a decade-old family secret unravels.
The Stranger's True Face
Climbing onto the back of the massive motorcycle felt like leaping off a cliff. Emily wrapped her arms tightly around the stranger’s waist as the bike roared to life, leaving her school and her old life behind in a cloud of exhaust and kicked-up snow. They rode in silence for twenty minutes, leaving the city limits behind until the rider pulled into the gravel lot of a deserted roadside diner.
As soon as the engine died, Emily scrambled off the bike, her chest heaving. "Who are you?" she demanded, her voice cracking in the cold air. "My uncle told me to trust you, but he didn't tell me anything else! Why did I have to leave?"
The man stood up, unzipping his heavy leather jacket. Slowly, he reached up and pulled off his dark aviators. Emily gasped, stepping backward. Underneath the sunglasses were a pair of striking, piercing green eyes—eyes that she saw every single morning when she looked in the mirror.
"My name is Jake, Emily. I’m your older brother,"
he said softly, a sad smile touching his lips. Emily’s breath hitched. She had been told her brother died in an accident when she was a toddler. But Jake explained the bitter truth: ten years ago, their father’s dangerous debts had put them all in jeopardy. To protect her, Uncle Thomas had hidden Emily away, while Jake had run to draw the danger away from them.
"Our father is out of prison, Emily, and he’s looking for you to settle his old scores,"
Jake explained, his green eyes filled with fierce protectiveness.
"Uncle Thomas knew they found your school. I came back to get you out before they could touch you."
