We Grieved Our Twin Boys Until a Mysterious Girl Pointed Us to an Orphanage
Previously: Grieving parents Sarah and John are visiting their twin boys' grave when a young girl makes a shocking claim: the boys are not dead, but living at a local orphanage.
The Secret of St. Jude's
The drive to St. Jude’s Home for Children felt like an eternity. Lily sat quietly in the back seat, pointing the way through the winding, fog-drenched roads of the valley. When they finally pulled up to the looming brick building, Sarah’s heart was hammering against her ribs. They hurried inside, the heavy oak doors shutting behind them with a definitive clang.
In the quiet lobby, an elderly woman in a dark habit, Sister Margaret, greeted them. When John demanded to see the twin boys who had recently arrived, the woman’s demeanor instantly shifted. Her face grew pale, and she nervously clutched the rosary beads at her waist. "I'm sorry, we have no such children here," she insisted, her voice tight. "You must leave."
But before they could be ushered out, a door at the end of the hallway creaked open. Two small, light-brown-haired boys peeked out, laughing as they chased a toy car. Sarah froze. They had the exact same nose, the same bright eyes, and the same cowlick as the babies she had held for only a fleeting moment before the doctors rushed them away. "Leo! Toby!" she cried out, taking a step toward them.
Suddenly, a door marked 'Private' opened, and a man in a sharp suit stepped into the hallway. Sarah's breath caught in her throat. It was Dr. Harrison, the prominent obstetrician who had delivered her boys and tearfully informed them that their twins had not survived the birth due to sudden complications.
Dr. Harrison froze, his eyes widening in sheer panic as he recognized the grieving parents.
"What are you doing here?"he demanded, his voice trembling as he quickly signaled to two burly security guards.
"These people are trespassing! Get them out of here immediately!"
John lunged forward, shouting,
"You stole our sons! You told us they died!"But the guards grabbed John, pinning his arms behind his back. Sarah screamed as she was forcibly pushed toward the exit, catching one last glimpse of her boys being hurried away behind locked doors.
