A Wealthy Man Returns Home Early and Discovers His Long-Lost Daughter Scrubbing His Floors
Previously: When a wealthy businessman returns to his mansion ahead of schedule, he is shocked to find his estranged daughter working as a maid—and his wife holding a dark secret.
A Father's True Wealth
The truth crashed down on Richard like a physical blow. He turned to Evelyn, his eyes burning with a fury she had never seen before. The pieces of the puzzle instantly fell into place. Evelyn had always managed his mail, his private investigators, and his personal schedule. She had known where Grace was all along. She had intercepted Grace's letters and, in a final act of unspeakable cruelty, had hired the girl under a false pretext to humiliate her and keep her silent.
"How could you do this?" Richard whispered, his voice dangerously low. "You knew I was dying to find her. You knew she was my daughter!"
Evelyn scoffed, trying to maintain her aristocratic composure. "I did it for us, Richard! To protect your estate from a girl who walked away years ago. She doesn't belong in our world."
"She is my world," Richard roared, standing up and pulling Grace gently to her feet. "And you are no longer a part of it. Get out of my house, Evelyn. My lawyers will contact you by tomorrow morning. Do not tempt me to involve the police for what you've done."
Realizing she had lost, Evelyn sneered, threw her wine glass into the sink, and swept upstairs to pack her belongings.
Richard turned back to Grace. He wrapped his arms around her, holding his daughter tight for the first time in ten years, weeping openly into her auburn hair. "I am so sorry, Grace. I never stopped looking for you. I never forgot you."
"I know, Dad," Grace sobbed, burying her face in his chest. "I'm just glad I'm finally home."
In the weeks that followed, Richard began the process of divorcing Evelyn and dismantling the wall of lies she had built around his life. He legally transferred half of his estate to Grace, but more importantly, he dedicated every single day to rebuilding the bond they had lost. Grace never had to scrub another floor, finding her true place not as a servant, but as the cherished daughter she had always been.
True family cannot be hidden by lies, and a father's love will always find a way to shine through the darkest deception.
