Previously: When Arthur maliciously tripped his elderly mother outside his wife's VIP hospital room, he thought he was protecting his high-society image. He had no idea she held the keys to his entire future.

The Tables Turn

Evelyn sat on the cold floor, her knees aching and her dignity shattered. She slowly gathered the bruised apples, her hands trembling. Arthur watched her with a smug grin, completely unaware that the heavy double doors at the end of the hallway had just burst open. Dr. Harrison, the chief of medicine, strode down the corridor, flanked by two security guards and a legal representative in a sharp grey suit.

"What is the meaning of this?" Dr. Harrison demanded, his voice booming through the quiet ward. He rushed over to Evelyn, immediately kneeling to help her up. "Mrs. Vance! Are you alright? What happened here?"

Arthur quickly smoothed his jacket, putting on a polite, wealthy-guy facade. "Dr. Harrison, thank goodness you're here. This elderly woman was trespassing and causing a scene outside our private suite. I was just asking her to leave. She tripped over her own feet."

Dr. Harrison’s face turned from concern to absolute fury. He stood up, towering over Arthur. "Trespassing? Mr. Vance, do you have any idea who this woman is?"

Megan, who had stepped out of the room to join her husband, chimed in with a sneer. "Of course we do. She’s Arthur’s estranged mother. She lives in a tiny apartment and has no right to be in this exclusive wing. We paid a fortune for this room!"

The legal representative stepped forward, opening a leather portfolio. "Actually, Mrs. Vance, you haven't paid a single dime yet. The Vance Family Trust pays for your lifestyle. And I believe you should know that Mrs. Evelyn Vance here is not only the sole trustee of that fund, but she is also the anonymous donor who funded this entire VIP wing."

Arthur’s face drained of color. His mouth hung open as he looked from the lawyer to his bruised, quiet mother, who was now standing tall, brushing off her green coat. "What... what do you mean?" Arthur stammered. "My father left the estate to me!"

"Your father left the estate to me, Arthur," Evelyn said quietly, her voice steady and devoid of the previous weakness. "To be distributed to you only if you proved to be a man of character."
