Previously: When Arthur maliciously tripped his elderly mother outside his wife's VIP hospital room, he thought he was protecting his high-society image. He had no idea she held the keys to his entire future.

A Lesson in Humility

The silence in the corridor was deafening. Megan’s mocking smile vanished instantly, replaced by a look of sheer terror. She clutched the baby tighter, looking at Arthur for answers, but Arthur was frozen in shock. "Mother, please," Arthur whispered, his voice cracking. "I... I didn't mean to. I was stressed about the baby. It was an accident!"

"An accident?" Evelyn looked at the bruised apples on the floor, then up at her son. "You kicked your own mother, Arthur. And your wife stood behind glass and laughed. You wanted to protect your high-society image so badly that you cast aside the woman who raised you. Well, now you can see how far that image gets you without my money."

Evelyn turned to the legal representative. "Mr. Sterling, please prepare the paperwork. I am officially invoking the character clause in my late husband's will. Effective immediately, all monthly stipends to Arthur Vance are suspended. The penthouse, the cars, and the credit cards are to be revoked by the end of the week."

"Mother, no! You can't do this to us! We have a baby!" Megan screamed, stepping forward, her eyes wide with desperation. But the security guards stepped in, blocking her path.

"The trust will fund the baby's medical care and education directly," Evelyn replied coldly, looking at her grandchild with a soft, sad smile before turning her gaze back to her son. "But as for the two of you, it is time you learned what it means to work for a living. Perhaps then you will learn to respect those you deem beneath you."

With a final, dignified nod to Dr. Harrison, Evelyn turned and walked down the hallway, leaving Arthur and Megan ruined and weeping on the very floor where they had humiliated her. True wealth is not measured by the luxury of your surroundings, but by the kindness and humility in your heart.
