Caroline’s face drained of all color. The phone slipped from her fingers, clattering onto the table. "You... you're Frank Sterling?" she whispered, her voice suddenly trembling. "The real estate mogul who retired to bake?"

"The very same," Frank replied, crossing his arms. "I started this bakery because I love the craft, not for the money. But I still keep a very close eye on my tenants. And I do not tolerate bullies on my property."

Sophia listened in shock. She had no idea the kind baker who had just saved her from utter humiliation was actually one of the most powerful men in the city.

"Please, Frank," Caroline stammered, her arrogant facade completely crumbling. "My boutique is my entire life. If you don't renew the lease, I'll lose everything. I have investors, debts..."

"You should have thought about that before you treated another human being like garbage," Frank said coldly. "My decision is final. Your lease will not be renewed. You have thirty days to vacate the premises."

As Caroline stumbled backward, humiliated and ruined, Frank turned his attention back to Sophia. He pulled up a chair and sat down. "Now, Sophia. I used to know your father. He was a good man before Caroline's family ruined his business. I want to make things right."

Frank offered Sophia a warm smile. "I need someone trustworthy to manage my real estate office, and eventually take over the operations here. The salary is more than enough to get you back on your feet, and I will provide you with comfortable housing immediately. What do you say?"

Tears of joy streamed down Sophia's face, replacing the tears of pain from just moments ago. She nodded vigorously, unable to find her voice but feeling an overwhelming sense of hope for the first time in years.
