Within hours, John’s trusted security team and a private investigator arrived at the estate. Sarah’s calm facade quickly began to crack as John demanded a full sweep of the property. He held a trembling Emma in his arms, listening in horror as she finally found the courage to speak. She hadn't been to Switzerland at all. For the last three months, she had been kept locked in the soundproofed basement apartment of the guest house, heavily medicated and completely isolated from the outside world.

"She told me you didn't want to see me anymore, Dad," Emma sobbed, clutching her father's suit jacket. "She said you signed the papers to commit me."

John’s blood ran cold. He looked up at Sarah, who was pacing the living room, her eyes darting toward the exit. "How could you do this?" John roared, his voice shaking the high ceilings. "She is my daughter!"

"I did what was necessary for this family!" Sarah spat back, her polished exterior completely shattering. "She was going to ruin everything, John! Her mother's trust fund was supposed to be ours!"

The pieces of the horrific puzzle finally fell into place. Emma’s late biological mother had left her a massive multi-million dollar inheritance, set to be released on her twenty-first birthday—which was only a week away. If Emma was declared mentally unfit or went missing, Sarah, as her legal stepmother, had drafted documents to gain full control of the estate. Sarah had bribed a corrupt local doctor to prescribe heavy sedatives, keeping Emma locked away while forging letters to John to make him believe his daughter was recovering in Europe.

The private investigator returned to the room, holding a lockbox found in Sarah’s private safe. Inside were Emma's confiscated phone, forged medical documents, and a plane ticket to a non-extradition country under Sarah's name, dated for the day after Emma's birthday.
