Previously: When Chloe pushed her mother-in-law Martha into a crocodile-infested river, she thought her inheritance was secured. She didn't expect her husband's desperate rescue—or the trap Martha had already set.

The Fight for Survival

Panic threatened to paralyze David, but the sight of the giant reptile closing the distance mobilized him. "Swim, Mom! Swim!" he screamed, grabbing the heavy wooden oar. He leaned over the gunwale, thrusting the paddle into the water to propel the heavy canoe toward his mother. Martha paddled frantically, her face pale with absolute terror as the crocodile's jagged snout cut through the murky water just feet behind her.

With a desperate heave, David reached out. He grabbed Martha’s slippery wrist just as the crocodile lunged, its jaws snapping shut with a sickening crack inches from her feet. Using every ounce of his strength, David hauled his mother over the side of the canoe. She collapsed onto the wooden floorboards, shivering and sobbing, coughing up river water.

David turned on his wife, his face contorted in fury and disbelief. "Are you insane? You just tried to murder my mother!"

But Chloe wasn't crying or apologizing. Instead, she stood at the opposite end of the canoe, a cold, mocking sneer on her face. From her tactical vest, she pulled a heavy survival knife. The manic energy had hardened into a chilling, calculated malice.

"She was supposed to drown, David," Chloe whispered, her voice devoid of any warmth. "It was going to be the perfect tragic accident. A wealthy tourist lost to the wilderness."

David stared at the woman he thought he loved, realizing he was looking at a complete stranger. Chloe gestured with the knife, keeping them both at bay. She explained how she had spent the last six months forging Martha’s signature on a new will, transferring the entire estate to herself and David. All she needed was for Martha to disappear in a place where no autopsy could be performed. "If you don't help me finish this," Chloe threatened, "neither of you is leaving this jungle alive."
