A Shocking Interruption

The crystal chandeliers of the Grand Plaza ballroom cast a warm, golden glow over the city’s elite. It was the annual charity gala hosted by Arthur Vance, a ruthless real estate billionaire. Beside him sat his twenty-two-year-old daughter, Alice, dressed in a stunning silk gown, her legs draped in a velvet blanket. Alice had been confined to a wheelchair since a mysterious car accident five years ago. Despite the music and laughter, her eyes remained hollow and distant.

Suddenly, the heavy oak doors burst open. A man in a worn windbreaker and muddy boots strode into the center of the polished dance floor. It was Jacob, a rugged stranger with messy brown hair and a look of fierce determination. The music screeched to a halt as gasps echoed through the room.

Jacob ignored the security guards rushing toward him. He locked eyes with Alice and stepped forward. "Let me dance with her," he demanded, his voice carrying across the silent hall.

Arthur stepped in front of Alice’s wheelchair, his face contorted in disgust.

"Do you even know who she is, filthy beggar? Get this garbage out of my sight!"
Arthur sneered, waving his hand dismissively.

But Jacob didn't flinch. He looked past Arthur, his gaze softening as he stared at Alice, who was looking up at him with a mixture of confusion and sudden hope. "I know she wants to dance," Jacob asserted firmly, "and I will make it happen."

Arthur’s face flushed red with anger.

"Why should I let you get near my daughter?"
he spat, stepping closer to Jacob.

Jacob stood his ground, his voice dropping to a powerful whisper.

"Because I can make her stand."
Before anyone could stop him, Jacob knelt before Alice. He gently placed his hand near her collarbone, closed his eyes, and commanded,
"In the name of Jesus, come, rise."
