The following morning, Austin was practically vibrating with excitement. He adjusted his expensive silk tie in the mirror, confident that today was the day his life would change forever. He had landed a final interview for a multi-million dollar partnership with Vance Enterprises, the largest real estate development firm in the state. If he secured this deal, he would be set for life, and he could finally prove to Grace that she was nothing without him.

He strutted into the top-floor executive suite, flashing a confident smile at the secretary.

"Mr. Vance is ready for you,"

she said, gesturing toward the heavy oak doors of the corner office. Austin took a deep breath, smoothed his suit jacket, and walked inside. The massive leather chair behind the desk was spun toward the window, overlooking the sprawling city skyline.

"Mr. Vance, it is an absolute honor to meet you,"

Austin began, his voice dripping with practiced charm.

"I've prepared a comprehensive proposal that I know will—"

The leather chair slowly spun around, and Austin’s words died in his throat. His heart plummeted into his stomach. Sitting behind the desk, wearing a tailored charcoal suit but possessing the exact same piercing, honest eyes, was Kyle. The man from the damp city walkway. The stranger in the navy blue zip-up.

Kyle looked at Austin, his expression completely unreadable.

"Please, sit down, Austin,"

Kyle said quietly. Austin stumbled backward, his face turning pale.

"You... you're the CEO?"

he stammered.

Kyle leaned forward, resting his hands on the desk.

"I am. And I personally review every major partnership. Yesterday, I saw exactly how you treat people when you think no one of importance is watching. A man who mocks his own fiancée on the street lacks the basic integrity, empathy, and respect required to represent my company. The deal is off."

Austin was escorted out by security, his arrogance entirely shattered. Sometimes, the universe has a beautiful way of showing us that true character is always revealed in the moments we think no one is watching, and kindness is the greatest currency of all.
