A Heartless Manager Fired Me For Helping A Stranger, Then Black SUVs Arrived
Previously: When kind-hearted waiter Landon defied his heartless boss to help a bruised stranger collapsing in the rain, he lost his job instantly. But a secret phone call changed everything.
The Mystery Revealed
As the call ended, the bruised stranger slowly stood up, refusing Landon's help to stand but offering a reassuring pat on the teenager's shoulder. Landon stood frozen in the rain, clutching his wet apron. He had just lost his only source of income, his rent was due in two weeks, and yet, looking at the calm demeanor of the man beside him, Landon felt an odd sense of peace. The stranger no longer looked like a helpless victim; his posture had shifted, radiating an undeniable aura of authority.
Inside the cafe, Troy watched them through the glass, a smug, self-satisfied grin plastered across his face. He gestured mockingly for Landon to clear off his property. But Landon’s attention was quickly drawn to the street. The sound of roaring engines pierced the sound of the falling rain. Three massive, sleek black SUVs tore around the corner, their headlights cutting through the dark night, and came to a sudden, synchronized halt right in front of the cafe.
Before Landon could comprehend what was happening, several men in tailored dark suits jumped out of the vehicles, holding umbrellas. They bypassed Landon entirely and bowed their heads respectfully toward the bruised man in the leather jacket.
"Sir! We came as fast as we could," one of the men said, holding a large umbrella over the stranger. "Are you injured?"
The stranger shook his head, wiping a mix of rain and blood from his forehead. "I'm fine. Just a minor altercation down the street. They took my wallet, but they didn't get what they really wanted." He turned his piercing gaze toward Landon, who was standing there completely dumbfounded. The stranger smiled warmly. "Landon, my name is Max. Or, as my board of directors calls me, Maxwell Vance. I own Vance Holdings—which happens to own this entire harbor development, including the very building we are standing in front of."
Landon gasped as the pieces began to fall into place. Troy's smug grin inside the cafe suddenly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer, paralyzing terror as he recognized the billionaire mogul standing right outside his window.
