He Mocked His Ex for Falling, Unaware of Her Savior's Identity
Previously: When Chloe slipped on the wet pavement, her ex-boyfriend Zach laughed and mocked her. But the kind stranger who helped her up held the power to destroy Zach's entire future.
Zach began to panic, stepping toward Luke with his hands raised in a desperate plea.
"Please, Mr. Sterling, you can't let this affect our families' business! My dad worked so hard for this merger. It was just a stupid joke!"
Luke didn't buy a single word. He pulled out his phone, dialed a number on speakerphone, and waited. Within two rings, an older, authoritative voice answered. "Luke? Is everything ready for the signing?"
"Cancel it, Dad,"
Luke said, keeping his eyes locked on Zach's trembling form.
"We are pulling out of the deal with the Henderson group. I just witnessed their heir showing a complete lack of basic human decency. We don't do business with bullies."
The voice on the other end didn't hesitate. "Consider it done. I'll have the lawyers draft the termination papers immediately."
As the call ended, Zach sank to his knees, realizing he had just ruined his family's legacy in a matter of seconds. His friends quickly scattered, leaving him alone in the rain.
A Bright New Beginning
Luke turned his back on Zach, completely ignoring his desperate cries, and focused entirely on Chloe. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a clean, dry handkerchief, offering it to her with a warm smile.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that,"
Luke said gently.
"No one deserves to be treated that way. Let me buy you a warm cup of coffee to make up for it."
Chloe, still stunned by the sudden turn of events, looked from the weeping Zach to the kind stranger before her. For the first time in weeks, she smiled.
"I'd like that,"
she whispered.
That rainy afternoon marked the end of Chloe's suffering and the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. Luke not only helped her rebuild her confidence, but he also offered her a position at his firm, where her talents were finally recognized. Zach’s family business collapsed, a stark reminder that arrogance always comes with a price.
Life has a beautiful way of weeding out the toxic people to make room for those who truly deserve to walk by your side.
