Previously: When Arthur confronted his mother for firing their quiet maid, Sarah, he didn't expect a silver pocket watch to unlock a devastating family secret about his late wife and young son.

Ignoring his mother’s frantic protests, Arthur marched up the stairs, carrying Noah in one arm and holding the tiny brass key tightly in his other hand. Sarah followed closely behind, while Eleanor stumbled after them, her desperate pleas echoing off the high ceilings.

Arthur kicked open the heavy oak doors of the private study. He walked straight to the antique mahogany desk. With a steady hand, he inserted the brass key into the central drawer. It turned with a heavy, satisfying click.

The Truth Unveiled

Arthur pulled the drawer open. Inside lay a thick stack of letters, tied together with a faded blue ribbon. He picked them up, his eyes catching the delicate, familiar handwriting on the envelopes. They were addressed to him.

He untied the ribbon and opened the top letter. It was dated just weeks after Noah’s birth.

"My dearest Arthur, your mother told me that if I do not leave, she will use her power to ruin your career and take our baby away forever. I am so sick, Arthur, but I am writing to you from the clinic. Please don't believe her when she says I left you. I love you both with all my soul. Please find me..."

Tears streamed down Arthur's face as he read letter after letter. Celeste had written to him every single week until her final days, begging him to come for her. Eleanor had intercepted every single one, leaving her daughter-in-law to die alone, heartbroken, while convincing her son that his wife was a heartless runaway.

Arthur turned to his mother, his voice deathly quiet but filled with an icy rage.

"Get out,"

he whispered.

"Pack your things and leave this estate. You will never see me, or my son, ever again."

Eleanor wept, begging for forgiveness, but the iron gate of Arthur’s heart had closed forever. He turned away from her and looked at Sarah, who was holding a crying Noah.

"Thank you,"

Arthur said softly, his voice cracking with emotion as he embraced Sarah and his son.

"You brought my wife back to us. You are staying here, Sarah. You are family."

Though the pain of the past was deep, Arthur knew that the truth had finally set them free, ensuring that Noah would grow up knowing just how deeply his mother had loved him.
