She Opened A Locked Salvage Yard Crate And Found Her Missing Sister Inside
The Whispering Scrap
The wind howled through the skeletal remains of rusted sedans and twisted iron beams. Nicole pulled the hood of her soiled gray sweatshirt over her messy brown hair, her hands caked in dry mud and grease. At twenty-two, she had spent too many afternoons scavenging through her uncle’s gritty salvage yard, looking for copper wiring to sell. “Help her,” Nicole whispered, a sudden wave of panic washing over her.
She stepped back, her wide, terrified eyes staring at the bound container. The realization hit her like a physical blow.
“There’s someone inside,” she gasped.
She frantically reached for the thick ropes, her fingers clawing at the stubborn knots.
“Please,” she pleaded to the empty air, desperate to undo the bindings.
Suddenly, a violent, deafening thud banged from inside the crate, shaking the wood and sending Nicole stumbling backward in sheer terror.
