She Opened A Locked Salvage Yard Crate And Found Her Missing Sister Inside
Previously: While searching through a gritty junk salvage yard, 22-year-old Nicole makes a terrifying discovery inside a locked wooden crate that changes her family forever.
The Face in the Dark
Panic surged through Nicole’s veins as the crate shook again. She couldn’t undo the thick knots with her bare hands. Desperate, she scrambled across the dirt, grabbing a jagged piece of sheared sheet metal from a nearby pile. She rushed back and began hacking frantically at the ropes, the sharp metal slicing into her own palms, but she ignored the sting of her own blood.
With a final, desperate tug, the thick ropes snapped. Nicole jammed the metal wedge under the lid and pried it upward with all her strength. The wood groaned and gave way. As the lid fell back, Nicole gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.
Staring up at her, bound and gagged with heavy duct tape, was Maya. It was her twenty-year-old step-sister, who had mysteriously vanished a week prior. Maya’s eyes were bloodshot and filled with absolute terror. Nicole quickly reached down, gently peeling the tape from Maya’s cracked lips.
“Nicole! You have to get out of here!” Maya sobbed, her voice hoarse. “He’s still here! He’s going to kill us!”
Before Nicole could ask who, a long, dark shadow stretched across the dirt, swallowing them both. Nicole spun around, her breath catching in her throat.
Standing at the entrance of the alleyway of scrap was her uncle Vance, the owner of the salvage yard. He held a heavy iron crowbar, a cold, ruthless smirk playing on his weathered face.
“You always did have a habit of digging where you didn’t belong, Nicole,” Vance sneered, stepping closer.
Maya trembled in the crate, crying out in fear. Vance explained, with chilling calm, that Maya had discovered his secret warehouse of stolen luxury vehicles hidden beneath the yard’s main shed. To protect his multi-million-dollar smuggling operation, he had locked her away. Now, Nicole had a choice: help him seal the crate back up, or climb in beside her sister.
