My Sister-in-Law Treated My Daughter Like a Servant Until I Checked the Security Feed
Previously: After losing his wife, Richard trusted her sister Eleanor to look after his young daughter Lily. But a sudden glance at his phone's security feed revealed a terrifying household secret.
The Secret Threat
The heavy oak front door slammed open with a deafening crash, echoing through the cavernous foyer. Eleanor’s smug smile instantly vanished, replaced by absolute terror as she dropped her bag of chips. Richard stood in the doorway, his eyes dark with a rage she had never seen before. Lily let out a cry of relief and ran straight into her father’s arms. Richard scooped her up, holding her trembling body against his chest, murmuring gentle reassurances while keeping his fiery gaze locked on Eleanor.
"Richard! You're home early," Eleanor stammered, her face turning pale as she tried to smooth down her hair. "We... we were just playing a game. Lily wanted to help with the chores, didn't you, sweetie?" Lily only buried her face deeper into Richard's shoulder, sobbing.
"Get out," Richard said, his voice dangerously low and calm. "Pack your things and get out of my house before I call the police."
Eleanor’s panicked expression slowly morphed. Realizing that her facade was entirely ruined, she let out a cold, mocking laugh. She stood up, brushing chip crumbs off her clothes, and looked Richard dead in the eye.
"You think you can just throw me out?" Eleanor whispered, her voice dripping with venom. "If you call the police, or if you kick me out of this house, I will destroy you. I have the letter Sarah wrote me just days before she died. The one where she details your neglect, your temper, and how she wanted me to have sole custody of Lily if anything happened to her."
Richard felt the air leave his lungs. Sarah had been extremely depressed in her final days, and Eleanor had spent hours alone with her. Had Eleanor manipulated his grieving wife into signing something? The thought of losing Lily sent a wave of panic through Richard's veins. He looked at Eleanor’s triumphant grin and realized he was dealing with a monster.
