Previously: When a terrified young waitress begged a gruff biker for protection from a man outside, she had no idea this rough stranger held the key to her forgotten past.

A Confrontation in the Shadows

The heavy glass door of the diner swung open with a violent gust of wind, bringing the scent of wet asphalt and rain inside. Marcus stepped over the threshold, shaking the water from his heavy coat. His eyes scanned the room, instantly locking onto Lily, who was hiding behind Jax's massive frame. A cruel, triumphant smirk spread across Marcus's face as he stepped forward, ignoring the tense atmosphere of the diner.

"There you are, Lily,"
Marcus sneered, his voice dripping with malice.
"You've run far enough. Your mother's estate is settled, and you're coming back with me to sign those papers. Don't make this difficult."

Before Marcus could take another step, Jax moved his massive body, completely blocking Lily from view. The sheer scale of the biker made Marcus halt in his tracks, his smirk faltering.

"The girl stays here,"
Jax said, his voice flat and dangerous.

Marcus tried to regain his composure, puffing out his chest.

"Look, pal, this is family business. That girl is my niece, and she belongs with me. Get out of my way before I make you."

A low chuckle rippled through the group of bikers behind Jax. Cole stepped up, his arms crossed over his chest, a mocking smile on his face. But Jax wasn't laughing. His eyes were locked on Lily's neck, where the silver chain of her father's dog tags had slipped out from her pink polo during the commotion. Jax's breath caught in his throat as he stared at the tarnished silver. He reached out a massive, calloused hand, gently lifting the metal tag to read the engraved name: Leo Miller.

Jax's eyes widened in sudden, profound realization. He looked back at Lily, his voice cracking slightly.

"Leo... Leo was your father?"
Lily nodded, tears welling in her eyes. Jax turned back to Marcus, his face contorting into pure, unadulterated rage.
"You have no idea who you're dealing with,"
Jax whispered.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with," Jax whispered.
