The Moment A Terrified Waitress Asked A Rough Biker For Help, Her Past Caught Up
Previously: When a terrified young waitress begged a gruff biker for protection from a man outside, she had no idea this rough stranger held the key to her forgotten past.
The Brotherhood's Promise
Jax turned his full, terrifying attention back to Marcus.
"Leo Miller was my brother-in-arms,"Jax growled, his voice shaking with raw emotion.
"Twenty years ago, in the desert, he took a bullet meant for me. He died a hero, and I swore to the heavens I would find his daughter and protect her. For years, I searched. And now, you walk into my diner, trying to hurt her?"
Marcus's face drained of all color. He looked at Jax, then at Cole, and then at the four other massive bikers who had silently surrounded him, closing off any escape. The atmosphere in the diner was suffocating. Marcus took a trembling step backward, his bravado completely vanishing.
"I... I didn't know,"he stammered, raising his hands in surrender.
"Get out of here,"Jax commanded, stepping so close to Marcus that the smaller man had to crane his neck.
"If I ever see your face near Lily again, or if I hear you've even breathed her name, my club and I will make sure you regret it for the rest of your miserable life. Now run."
Marcus didn't need to be told twice. He turned on his heel and scrambled out into the storm, the heavy diner door slamming shut behind him. The silence that followed was broken only by the sound of the rain beating against the glass.
Jax turned around to face Lily. The fierce, intimidating biker suddenly looked incredibly gentle. He reached out and softly patted her shoulder.
"You don't ever have to run again, Lily,"he said, a warm, genuine smile breaking through his grey beard.
"Your dad was the bravest man I ever knew. You're family now. The Brotherhood takes care of its own."
Lily let out a sob of relief, throwing her arms around the giant biker. For the first time in years, as the storm raged outside, she finally felt safe, knowing that her father's legacy had brought her a family of guardians who would protect her forever.
True family isn't always defined by blood, but by the loyal souls who stand by us when the storms of life hit hardest.
