A Wealthy Businessman Finds His Estranged Daughter Scrubbing His Mansion Floors
Previously: When wealthy Robert walked into his grand foyer, the last person he expected to see scrubbing his floors was Sarah, the daughter he hadn't seen in ten long years.
A Confrontation of Secrets
The air in the grand reception hall turned ice-cold. Robert stood paralyzed, his eyes darting between his wealthy, aristocratic wife and his estranged daughter who was kneeling in soapy water. Ten years ago, after a bitter divorce from Sarah's mother, Robert had allowed himself to be bought out of his own daughter's life by Catherine’s powerful family. He had built a life of luxury, but it was built on a foundation of cowardice and regret.
Catherine walked over, her high heels clicking sharply against the marble. She looked down at Sarah with utter disdain.
"Honestly, Robert, the agency sent us a complete emotional wreck. She's been crying since she arrived. I was just about to call and have her replaced,"
Catherine complained, sipping her wine.
Robert’s chest tightened. He looked at Sarah’s worn-out shoes and the red, raw skin on her hands. The guilt that he had buried for a decade rushed to the surface, suffocating him.
"Get up, Sarah,"
Robert whispered, his voice trembling.
Catherine frowned, her eyes narrowing.
"Why are you addressing the help by her name? And why on earth do you look like you've seen a ghost?"
Sarah slowly stood up, wiping her wet hands on her apron. She refused to look at Robert, keeping her eyes fixed on the floor.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. I'll pack my things and leave,"she murmured, her voice cracking with emotion.
"No, you won't,"
Robert said, stepping between Sarah and his wife. He turned to Catherine, his face pale but determined.
"She isn't just the help, Catherine. This is Sarah. My daughter."
Catherine’s glass nearly slipped from her fingers. She stared at Robert, then at Sarah, her expression shifting from confusion to absolute disgust.
"Your daughter? The one from that... previous life? What is she doing in my house?"
